Imran Khan criticized Andrew Tate for exploiting vulnerable young boys looking for role models. He credited his mother and the men in his family, including his uncle Aamir Khan, for their positive influence. Imran made his debut in 2008 with Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na and later starred in Delhi Belly. He is now dating Lekha Washington after his breakup with Avantika Malik.
Imran Khan speaks candidly about masculinity and what young boys see and hear today. In a recent podcast, he talked about why someone like Andrew Tate is so popular, and said he was lucky to have a good role model when he was young.
Imran Khan on Andrew Tate’s ‘simplistic masculine power fantasy’
On Decoding Quirks, Imran pointed out that many men grow up believing that wealth, achievement and material success will guarantee happiness. When that promise fails, they feel directionless, making them vulnerable to those who claim to have all the answers. Speaking specifically about Andrew Tate and figures like him, Imran said: “In this, people come in who are sabotaging these guys.
Andrew Tate is perhaps one of the most famous of these. But there are men like this who prey on vulnerable boys who are looking for male role models. They’re looking for guidance, and here these guys come in and say, I’ll tell you how. They sell these men a simplistic fantasy of masculine power. Strong, show a woman her place, and that’s how she becomes a man. It is in this vulnerable space that young boys believe these narratives.”
Imran Khan credits his family for the positive influence
Imran further revealed that he never liked these ideas because he grew up surrounded by people who designed something completely different. He credited his mother, along with the men in his family, including his uncle Aamir Khan, with a lasting influence on how he saw the world. “I give credit to my mother, the men in my life, my father, my stepfather, and my uncle Mansour and Amer,” he said.
All of these men have been a positive masculine influence in my life. These are men who respected women for themselves and taught me the same. “Not in a belittling way, but in a real, fair, humane way.”
