Savaldeep Singh was arrested in Canada on suspicion of links to an international criminal network.
A dangerous driving complaint concerned a car stopped by patrol officers in Edmonton, Canada. While traffic police searched the car, they found drugs, a gun, and a wanted man inside.
Savaldeep Singh, an Indian national, wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for conspiracy to commit murder and extortion, was arrested by the Edmonton Police Service. Singh is suspected of having ties to the For Brotherhood gang, an organized crime network linked to shootings and extortion targeting South Asian business owners and community members across Canada and the United States. The accident happened in May. 22-year-old Savaldeep Singh, 28-year-old Sandeep Singh, and 22-year-old Divyanshu Divyanshu were arrested and charged with several drug and firearms offences. They were released on bail.
Two search warrants at Savaldeep Singh’s residence on May 28 and June 23, 2026, resulted in the seizure of evidence consistent with vehicle re-glazing operations linked to racketeering-related crimes, and Savaldeep was arrested again on June 23 on charges of trafficking in property obtained by crime, possession of stolen property and unauthorized possession of a firearm, all in addition to the charges against him under Canada-wide warrants.
After Singh was processed on the EPS charges in Edmonton, he was transferred to Ontario to face charges under his Canada-wide warrants.“We have been investigating extortion networks and their multiple jurisdictional links in Canada for some time, and have established a coordinated approach with a focus on effective intelligence gathering and sharing and enforcement actions across provinces,” says Sergeant Eric Stewart, EPS Investigations Branch.
“In this investigation, we are particularly grateful to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Peel Regional Police for their close cooperation, which led to Singh’s arrest and his connection to incidents of violence on the other side of the country.
““Racketeering and targeted violence have had a profound impact on victims, families and businesses, particularly within the South Asian community. Bringing those responsible to justice requires seamless cooperation across jurisdictions, and this investigation is a testament to what can be achieved when police and our law enforcement partners work together towards a common goal. We thank the Edmonton Police Service for their exceptional cooperation and remain committed to pursuing those who seek to intimidate and harm our communities,” said Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich, Peel Regional Police.
