Venezuelan Foreign Minister Iván Gil visited the field hospital set up by India as part of Operation Amistad today and praised the medical services provided there.
In his press statement at the end of the visit, Gill said that he, along with India’s Ambassador to Venezuela, BK Ashok Babu, witnessed the touching demonstration of solidarity and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending a helping hand.
“We want to inform you that we have toured this field hospital. A field hospital set up by the Government of India, a friendly government, a sister government. Ashok Babu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, is with us here from India in Venezuela, and the commander who was in charge of the operations here, colleague Julio León, who is the director of the National Horse Racing Institute, the head of the National Horse Racing Institute, and the facilities that are providing services for the installation of this hospital.” He said.
Gill further said that Indian experts treated nearly 400 people daily, providing a wide range of treatment.

“We have seen that 400 people are getting help every day with different issues. We will see in the videos people who were beaten, fractured or had hematoma during the earthquakes. We have seen people also receiving dental care, an He said.
Gil said that after the visit of Acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez to India, this is an example of brotherhood.
He said: “I would like to thank the Government of India and its Prime Minister Modi. We recently visited India, and this is an example of brotherhood. This is the brotherhood of peoples, which serves the Venezuelan people, and accompanies us in this moment of grief. I repeat, more than 400 people are being treated every day in this field hospital, most of them people who were affected during the seismic events that occurred on June 24.”
Gil expressed Venezuela’s love and gratitude to India.
“We have no words to thank you, Ambassador, so, well, please send all our love, all our dedication, Commander, to the personnel of the armed forces, from India, who are here, doctors, nurses and paramedics, who are working tirelessly 24 hours a day in this hospital, thanks to the National Institute of Racing, which also provided all the logistical support for the installation,” he said.
Gil assured the Venezuelans that Rodriguez supports them.
He said, “Well, the people of Venezuela are united. Venezuela is not alone, as President Delsey is at its head coordinating all these operations, and the Bolivarian government, well, thank you again.”
