New Delhi: England made two changes to their playing XI for the second T20I against India at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday.Fast bowler Jofra Archer returns to the side, while Josh Tong is set to make his T20I debut.

The duo replaces Saqib Mahmood and Luke Wood, who were ruled out after the rain-hit opener.

Tongue, who has represented England in Tests and ODIs, will now make his debut in T20 internationals.Archer’s return also boosts the pace of England’s attack as the hosts look to take the lead in the five-match series.

India vs England Washed the first T20I

The opening T20I at Chester-le-Street on Wednesday ended without a result after persistent rain prevented England from starting their chase.India posted a competitive average of 189/7 in their 20 overs before heavy rain hit at the end of the innings. Although the players waited until the final time of a potential five-game match, the rain did not let up and the referees eventually abandoned the game.

Indian players shine

Despite losing Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan in the first two overs, India recovered through a strong partnership between Abhishek Sharma and skipper Shreyas Iyer.

Abhishek smashed 59 off just 24 balls, becoming the fastest Indian to score a T20I fifty in England. While batting, he also became the fastest batsman to reach 100 sixes in T20Is, reaching the record on 785 deliveries, bettering the previous record held by West Indies opener Evin Lewis (789 deliveries).Iyer anchored the innings with 68 off 47 balls, registering his maiden half-century as India captain in a T20I.Shivam Dubey then provided late fireworks, smashing an unbeaten 42 off 21 balls as India added 54 runs in the last five overs to finish on 189/7.For England, Saqib Mahmood took three wickets, while Sam Curran picked up one wicket and also got Axar Patel out off the last ball of the innings.With the first match over, both teams will now look to gain the upper hand in the second T20I in Manchester.
