Along with the post, the Prime Minister shared two images of a message addressed to devotees and a video carrying his message to pilgrims embarking on the yatra.

The Prime Minister’s message includes “five decisions”

In the message, Modi described the Amarnath Yatra as more than just a religious journey, terming it a symbol of India’s unity in diversity where devotees from different states, languages and traditions come together in devotion to Lord Shiva.

The Prime Minister said that the pilgrimage represents the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ and praised the people of Jammu and Kashmir for welcoming devotees every year with warmth and hospitality.

He also thanked the Army personnel, Central Armed Police Forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police, disaster response teams, healthcare workers, sanitation staff and administrative officials involved in ensuring smooth conduct of the yatra.

Modi urged devotees to follow what he called the “five resolutions” during Hajj:

  • Maintaining cleanliness and preserving the natural beauty of the Himalayan region and pilgrimage routes.
  • Follow all traffic and safety guidelines issued by the authorities.
  • Supporting local products and businesses in Jammu and Kashmir to enhance livelihoods in the region.
  • Planting a sapling in the name of family members or loved ones when returning home from Hajj.
  • Promote the spirit of unity, brotherhood and harmony during the yatra.

The Prime Minister said that these decisions will help transform the Hajj into a broader social movement dedicated to environmental preservation, national unity and sustainable development.

One of the pictures Modi shared carried his detailed message to devotees, accompanied by his picture. The second image appeared under the title “Amarnath Yatra: Message from the Prime Minister to devotees” along with a picture of the revered ice swaying inside the Amarnath cave shrine.

He opened the message by greeting “Har Har Mahadev” and “Jai Baba Parvani” and wishing the devotees a safe and spiritually fulfilling journey.

Amarnath Yatra begins under tight security

The annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir began on July 3 with the first batch of pilgrims leaving Jammu amid elaborate security arrangements. The authorities deployed a multi-layered security network and enhanced surveillance along the pilgrim routes after extensive reviews conducted by the Center and the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

The Hajj is scheduled to last for 57 days until August 28 this year. The shrine, located more than 12,000 feet high in the Himalayas, houses a naturally formed ice statue that is worshiped by devotees as a manifestation of Lord Shiva.

Pilgrims can reach the cave shrine via the traditional Pahalgam route or the shorter but steeper Baltal route. The yatra attracts thousands of devotees from across the country every year and is conducted by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir administration.
