Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday on a three-day visit to India, during which she will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, defense and other key sectors.

This is Takaishi’s first official visit to India. The Middle East News Agency had previously said that it would visit India at the invitation of Modi from July 1 to 3 to attend the 16th annual summit between India and Japan.

Takaishi posted on X photos of her arrival in India.

“A very warm welcome to India, Prime Minister Sanae Takaishi,” Modi wrote in his post.

“We are pleased to host you on your maiden visit to India, and I look forward to our wide-ranging discussions tomorrow that will deepen the special strategic and global partnership between India and Japan. Through our joint efforts, we will continue to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond. @takaichi_sanae,” he said.

According to the media report issued by MENA on June 30, Takaishi will meet Modi at Hyderabad House on Thursday.

Earlier, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X about her arrival in Delhi and said that her visit marks an important step in taking bilateral relations forward.

“Prime Minister Sanae Takaishi! A very warm welcome to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaishi, who arrives in New Delhi on an official visit. Prime Minister Takaishi has been received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs @DrJitendraSingh.”

He added, “The visit represents an important step in moving forward the special strategic and global partnership between India and Japan.”

He also shared some photos of its arrival.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “The summit will provide an opportunity for the two sides to review and enhance the full scope of bilateral cooperation in addition to exchanging views on regional and global issues of common interest.”
