IndiGo offers ‘Lite’ fares for economy passengers traveling with cabin baggage only

Airline carrier IndiGo on Wednesday announced a new fare option, ‘IndiGo Lite’, for economy class passengers, an entry fare that allows passengers with only cabin baggage to pay for services used only.

The airline said that this new fare will be available for booking exclusively on IndiGo’s direct channels including the website, mobile app and call centre, starting Wednesday for travel from July 15, 2026. It also said that the new fare will be applicable across its domestic and international non-stop, round-trip and multi-city routes for both adult and child passengers.

“IndiGo Lite builds on IndiGo’s continued focus on delivering personalized offers to meet the evolving needs of diverse travelers across India and the world. Customers will enjoy a lower base fare with an automatically allocated seat at no additional cost, and a cabin bag weighing up to 7 kg. It also provides customers the flexibility to customize their journey with optional add-ons, enabling them to purchase services like baggage check-in, preferred seats, meals, or priority services like Fast Forward.” Read the statement.

“These services can be added one hour before departure via the IndiGo website or at the airport,” the statement said.

The airline also explained that IndiGo Lite passengers will be able to earn and redeem IndiGo BluChip points ensuring that the benefits of IndiGo’s loyalty program remain affordable across all fare types.
