Mark Harmon will return full-time to NCIS-Verse in the 2026-27 season.
Harmon will appear on screen in every episode of the Prequel series NCIS: Originsrepeating his long time NCIS He plays Leroy Jethro Gibbs as well as narrating and executive producing the series. Harmon guest starred on the show last season as part of the crossover with NCIS Which spanned the 1990s and the current world of the main series. He also appeared in the series premiere in 2024.
Season three of Origins It will follow a similar approach, except for the crossover: Harmon will appear as part of a present-day mystery that ties into Gibbs’ time at Camp Pendleton in the 1990s and spans the entire season. This heavily serialized item is also a departure for NCIS franchise, which has built a library of more than 1,100 episodes across seven series (with Episode VIII, NCIS: New Yorkon the road) are mostly set against the backdrop of stand-alone procedural stories.

Austin Stowell plays the younger Gibbs NCIS: Origins. Kyle Schmid, Marielle Molyneux, Tayla Abercrombie, Diane Rodriguez, and Caleb Foote also star.
Harmon played Gibbs for over 18 seasons NCISleaving a few episodes for the 2021-22 season. He returned to the franchise with Originswhich CBS ordered straight to series in 2024. CBS Studios produces the prequel and all other shows in the franchise.
