A train has stalled at Anand Vihar Metro station, causing major delays on the Blue Line during peak hours, when many take the metro home from their offices. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is yet to reveal the exact nature of the technical glitch that disrupted services.

DMRC announced on social media that Blue Line Metro services have been restored.

“Service update. Regular services have been resumed on the Blue Line,” DMRC wrote on X.

Earlier, the Delhi Metro Operating Agency said services on the Blue Line were affected due to a “technical issue” between Anand Vihar and Vaishali.

“Service update. Delay in train services on Blue Line due to technical issue between Anand Vihar and Vaishali. Services are normal on all other lines,” a DMRC post said at 5.21 pm.

The disruption hit one of the busiest and most used corridors of the Delhi Metro, which connects Dwarka Sector 21 in west Delhi with Electronic City Noida and Vaishali in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.

Blue Line: The lifeline of Delhi Metro

The Blue Line serves thousands of commuters daily between Delhi and Noida, including professionals heading to IT parks and corporate offices. The corridor also provides an important link to Anand Vihar, one of the busiest transport hubs in the National Capital Region, providing connectivity to the railway station and the inter-state bus station.

Thus, the Blue Line is the lifeline of the Delhi Metro corridor in the national capital and major points of Noida and Ghaziabad.

As a result, even a brief interruption during working hours can lead to significant delays, overcrowding at stations and widespread inconvenience to commuters across Delhi and the NCR.
