The cities of Dnipro, Zaporizhia and Kharkiv, all major industrial centers, were subjected to repeated Russian attacks during the war.
Russian missile, drone and air bomb attacks across Ukraine killed at least nine people and injured dozens on Monday, with strikes hitting several major cities as rescue operations continued and casualties rose throughout the day.The deadliest attack occurred in the southeastern city of Dnipro, where a Russian missile attack killed five people and injured 29 others, according to regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha.Hansa posted photos showing a passenger minibus with its rear doors smashed, shattered windows in a nearby building, and a blurry image of a body lying next to the stairs.“Russia launched a missile strike on Dnipro, targeting infrastructure,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on X, adding that emergency crews were working at the scene.“It is essential that Europe is as active as possible in developing its anti-ballistic missile defence, systems and missiles,” he said.In the southern Zaporizhya region, a Russian drone struck a passenger minibus, killing two men and a woman. Regional authorities said eight other people, including a seven-year-old boy, were injured.Governor Ivan Fedorov posted footage showing a white minibus with blood covering its floor, its rear doors destroyed, and the body of one of the victims still inside.
Later in the day, another Russian strike hit a civilian truck in Zaporizhia, setting it on fire. Fedorov said that no casualties were reported in this attack.In northeastern Kharkiv, a Russian bomb killed a 23-year-old woman and wounded 10 others, local officials said.The city’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said the raid destroyed a tram and more than 15 vehicles. Both sides deny deliberately targeting civilians.
