Two women and a man were killed and more than a dozen others injured after an under-construction wall collapsed at a construction site in Jaipur on Monday. Many of the wounded are reported to be in critical condition. The police have registered a case against the building contractor and the concerned department on charges of negligence.

The deceased have been identified as Savita, 42, Rinku, 32, and Ramjilal, 28. During the rescue operation, workers recovered the severely mutilated body of a woman from under the rubble. The body had to be removed from the hole wrapped in a bundle due to the extent of the injuries.
The accident occurred while workers were repairing a drainage ditch at the Aravalli Palace Resort on the Jaipur-Delhi Expressway. Confirming the incident, Hanuman Prasad Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Rural Police, Jaipur, said, “Three people died after a wall collapsed at Tala Mod in Chandwaji district. All the injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment.”
The victims were rescued by local residents, police and administrative officials. The trapped workers were recovered and taken to nearby hospitals while the area was cordoned off to facilitate rescue efforts.
Mamta, a worker from Gaya in Bihar state, said 21 workers were at the construction site when the accident happened. According to her, a few workers narrowly escaped the tragedy because they went out for lunch shortly before the wall collapsed.
Family members of the victims claimed that cracks appeared in the wall long before the accident occurred. They said the contractor was informed of the structural damage but failed to take any corrective action.
Investigators are examining whether mandatory safety standards were ignored and whether lapses in construction practices contributed to the accident. The authorities also launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collapse and check whether adequate safety measures were in place at the site.
