“Vigilant, lethal, and ready”: The United States launches new strikes on 10 Iranian military targets - video

The video was published hours after the US military announced new strikes on Iran

US Central Command (Centcom) on Sunday released a video showing US air and naval strikes on Iranian military targets, saying the operation was carried out in response to the recent Iranian drone attack on a commercial oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz.Posting the footage on social media, Central Command said, “U.S. Navy and Air Force fighter jets conducted strikes tonight on 10 Iranian military targets at multiple locations in and near the Strait of Hormuz, in response to the Iranian drone attack on M/T Kiku.”The video was published hours after the US military announced new strikes on Iran, saying the action was ordered by President Donald Trump after what he described as another violation of the ceasefire agreement.

The United States says the strikes came in the wake of the attack on the oil tanker

Earlier Sunday, Central Command said US forces carried out additional strikes after Iran launched a one-way attack drone that struck the Panama-flagged oil tanker M/T Kiku at 4:30 a.m. ET as it passed near the Strait of Hormuz carrying more than 2 million barrels of crude oil.“Following yesterday’s US strikes in response to the Iranian attack on the M/V Ever Lovely ship, Iran was given an opportunity to respect the ceasefire agreement but chose not to do so,” Central Command said.

According to the US military, the retaliatory operation targeted Iran’s military surveillance infrastructure, communications systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities, and mine-laying capabilities. The statement added, “Commercial ships continue to transit the Strait of Hormuz. American forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready.”

Tensions escalated despite the ceasefire

The latest strikes represent another escalation despite a temporary ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending hostilities.President Donald Trump also confirmed the operation on social media, saying the US had “bombed Iranian missile and drone storage sites and coastal radar sites for violating the ceasefire agreement, again!” He warned that Washington may “ultimately be forced to complete the mission militarily” if Iran continues its actions.Iranian state television reported explosions in an area north of the strategic waterway following the strikes. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy corridors, carrying a large share of global oil exports. The recent attacks have heightened concerns about maritime security, even as the United States and Iran continue negotiations aimed at reaching a broader agreement on shipping, regional security and Tehran’s nuclear program.
