Police and health department officials on Saturday raided a house in this area following complaints alleging fake medical treatment and black magic practices being carried out in the name of religion.
The home of Shihab al-Din Faizi, a citizen of Sharqala, was raided by local police and officials from the Ministry of Health.
A police officer said the search began around 8 a.m. and continued for several hours.
According to the police, the action was initiated after a complaint received by Chief Minister V D Sathisan was referred to the local police station.

The police then informed the health department and conducted a joint inspection.
In addition to police officers, senior officials from the Ministry of Health and the Narcotics Inspector participated in the raid.
Officials said they could not find any solid evidence to prove the claims of fake cure and black magic, but honey, water, several bottles and other items were seized during the search.
A fake certificate showing completion of a week-long health course was found displayed on the wall of the house.
According to the officer, Al-Fayzi told officials that he only offers water after reciting prayers, and does not provide any other form of treatment.
Police also collected CCTV footage from the house as part of the investigation. They added that further investigations are underway.
