A 34-year-old man from Haryana’s Gurugram district died in an accident in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area after a thar rammed his motorcycle from behind, police said on Saturday.

The deceased, identified as 34-year-old Sarthak Mattoo, was traveling from his home in Gurugram to Noida in Uttar Pradesh for work when the car hit his motorcycle on Saturday morning.
Police said that a PCR call was received at Vasant Kunj South Police Station, stating that a car collided with a motorcycle, seriously injuring the driver, PTI reported.
The victim was rushed to the Indian Spinal Injuries Center by PCR personnel, where doctors declared him brought dead.

According to the police, the car was driving dangerously on the highway to change lanes before it collided with the bike from behind in Rajokri area adjacent to Vasant Kunj.
An FIR was registered under relevant sections and the body was sent to Safdarjung Hospital for post-mortem examination. A 30-year-old man was arrested in the case.
Who was driving the car?
The police found that the thar was registered in the name of a private company based in Bengaluru. The car was leased to Sagar Saha, a native of Bihar and an employee of the company operating in Bengaluru.
However, when questioned, Saha said that the car was driven by his friend Apoorv Singh (30), a resident of Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh. Singh works in a private company and currently lives in Gurugram.

Police said Saha was sitting in the front passenger seat when the accident occurred. The car was confiscated and Singh was arrested. A medical examination of the accused was also conducted at Safdarjung Hospital.
What did the victim’s family say?
Surinder Mattoo, Sarthak Mattoo’s father, said his son was working in an event management company in Gurgaon. He said that his son left his home on Saturday morning around 6:30 am, while he received news of the accident an hour later.
“The accident happened near Rajokri Bridge. Thar came from behind and hit my son. After the collision, the car ran over him and left him lying on the road. They left him there. We received a call from one of Sarthak’s colleagues. A kind bystander had witnessed the accident. He even sent the location where he saw Thar… Then he called PCR. We received a call from the office colleague around 7.30 or 7.45 am, informing us that Sarthak had met with an accident,” the father told ANI.

He added: “By the time we reached the spinal injuries hospital, he was gone. They left my son lying on the road. The least they could do was take him to the hospital. We learned that there were two people in the car… I appeal to you all, please. I want justice.”
The father said that Sarthak was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He urged the government, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, to get justice for his son.
