With the demise of director K Bhagyaraj, family, friends and members of the film gathered to pay their last respects. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay also said that he was shocked and saddened by the death of the veteran, whom he described as one of the best all-rounders in the industry.
In his condolences, Vijay praised Bhagyaraj’s distinguished journey as a director, actor, screenwriter and dialogue writer. He said his films entertained audiences but also contained strong human values and meaningful social messages that would continue to inspire generations.

Hailing K Bhagyaraj’s great contribution to Tamil films, Chief Minister Vijay announced that the legendary director’s final outing will take place with all state honours.
In his statement, he described Bhagyaraj’s death as an irreparable loss to the Tamil film industry and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the director’s family, friends, colleagues and countless fans. Vijay also prayed that Bhagyaraj’s soul may rest in peace, adding that the state’s honor was a mark of respect for the cinematic legacy created by the ‘screenplay king’ over several decades.

Bhagyaraj’s body was kept at his residence in Nungambakkam to allow members of the public, industry colleagues and fans to pay their last respects throughout the night.
The family confirmed that the final rites of the veteran director will be held on Sunday at 1:30 pm at Besant Nagar Electric Crematorium in Chennai. His death was followed by a steady stream of people who came to pay their last respects to this highly acclaimed director, whose contribution to Tamil films was greatly appreciated and respected.

His former assistants and followers, including actor-director Parthiban and director Pandiraj, arrived early along with Radhika Sarathkumar, Sarathkumar and actress Suhasini. They personally supervised the arrangements for public tributes, coordinated the movement of visitors, and ensured everything was organized for the final farewell.This emotional act showed how much Bhagyaraj is respected and loved in the film industry. As thousands pay tribute, Tamil cinema is now gearing up to bid an emotional farewell to one of its greatest storytellers.
