Veteran Bollywood actress Leena Chandavarkar shared an interesting story about her late husband, legendary singer Kishore Kumar. She talked about some of the unique habits of the ‘Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan’ singer who used to do things his own way.During Leena Chandavarkar’s appearance as a special guest on Indian Idol, she talked about some of Kishore Kumar’s fun habits and memories that not many people know about.After host Aditya Narayan spoke about Kishore Kumar’s famous habit of arriving at recording studios wearing just one slipper and a pair of ladies’ sandals, the ‘Humjoli’ actress shared another lesser-known habit.

Kishore Kumar is simple Ban usually

She said, “Woh paan sirf bata khati al. jo kolkata ka paan ka bata hota hai na, ek pata khati.”

Matlab Usmein andar Choona Nahi, Tambaaku Nahi, Supari Nahi, Kuch Bhi Nahi. Gulkand bhi nahi. Kuch bhi nahi woh uski khalaf, baas woh sirf ban ka bata khati. This means that Kishore Kumar was just chewing the regular Kolkata paan leaf. He did not like to add lime, tobacco, betel nut, gulkand or any other ingredients.Lena Chandavarkar attended the show with her son Sumit in an episode dedicated to the music icon.

Kishore Kumar is remembered as one of the greatest playback singers of Indian cinema who gave us many famous songs including ‘Intaha Ho Gai Intezar Ki’, ‘Dil Kya Kare’, ‘Dilbar Mere’, ‘Tere Bina Zindagi Se’, ‘Roop Tera Mastana’, ‘Mere Sapno Ki Rani’, ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas’, ‘O Mere Dil Ke Chain’ and many more. It would not be wrong to point out that even today his songs entertain people across generations.In addition to singing, he has also worked in some memorable films like Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Half Ticket, Padosan, Jhumroo and Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein.
