On June 25, director Uwe Boll took to his X account (formerly known as Twitter) and shared the full film on the platform. He revealed that the clip would remain live on his account for a full 48 hours, which caused a sensation online. Not only that, Paul’s project also had support from Elon Musk, who owns the platform. Musk also shared the film on his personal account, fully supporting the controversial film.“Citizen Vigilante” is 1 hour and 28 minutes long.
“Citizen Sentinel” is banned in Germany
The film never gained viewership in Germany, which in turn led to the film being banned due to its controversial depiction of violence against immigrants. Addressing the matter in an interview with The Telegraph, the director commented on the matter and announced that they (the official board) had refused to give the film a rating.He added at the time: “The classification system refused to give us a classification, so now you can only watch it if you bring Blu-ray from Austria or Switzerland.”
I think they did it on purpose. It was a deliberate censorship decision. “I hired a lawyer to file a complaint about the film, but we lost by six votes, as I was told that the film incites violence against immigrants.”Furthermore, speaking about the project, Paul added: “I know there is a lot of interest and response in America. In Europe at the moment, people avoid making these kind of harsh political films, but I have always tried to smuggle politics into films of this kind.
“This is not a documentary, it is a thriller and I hope viewers respond to it.”

Slowly, he takes matters into his own hands and punishes criminals and murderers, as well as dirty politicians and people who abuse their power. This turns him into a vigilante, a wanted criminal, and a hero to the people.The film represents Armie Hammer’s major return to the big screen after the controversy he sparked in 2021, after someone claimed that he was abusing him. After the investigation, no charges were brought against the actor.
