The Mumbai-based Vishwa Sindhi Seva Sangam (VSSS) on Friday wrote to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, demanding responsibility for the 200 silver bricks, each weighing 1 kg, donated by the organization to the Trust on January 26, 2021.

The move comes two days after VSSS issued a public notice detailing the amount of silver it donated five years ago to the trust, for which it has yet to provide a receipt.

“Apart from the request to receive the community’s donation of 200 kg of silver, we also sought information on how the silver was being used in the temple and, if it has not been used yet, what are the plans to use the donation in the future,” said Raju Manwani, international president of VSSS, a global Sindhi community organization headquartered in Mumbai.

According to the Sindhi Authority, about 150 donors from all over the world contributed, which cost… $1.5 lakh crore in 2021.

“There is anger and discontent among community members, including donors. If Ram Mandir is embroiled in the controversy over financial misappropriation, people will think twice before donating next time,” Manwani said.

Manwani noted that when they requested a receipt from the fund, they were informed that it would be issued after receiving the expert’s test report. “We continued our investigations, but eventually gave up. However, when reports of the misappropriation of funds emerged recently, we thought it was the right time to raise the issue again. We sent the letter to the Trust on Friday,” he said, adding that the organization would wait until the SIT’s investigation was completed, hoping to “punish the guilty”.

“We have full confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath – they will ensure justice in this case,” Manwani said.
