Sombr is just like the rest of us – and he also can’t seem to get enough of it mania and on campus.
On Thursday, the 20-year-old singer-songwriter released his new music titled “My Body Isn’t Ready,” which features some famous faces. Josh Huston, who played college bandleader Justin on Prime Video’s popular romance show Off campusAnd Endy Navarrete, the breakout star who was a surprise box office success for Carrie Parker maniastars alongside Sombr in the video.
The four-minute-plus music video begins with Sombr heading up to a house party in the Hollywood Hills and finds Heuston showing off his new piece of art while Navarrette sits poolside eating watermelon. Navarrete and Sombre meet as he heads towards the choir. The singer looks into the camera throughout the video while repeating the song’s thesis: “I like you, but my body ain’t ready / I want you, but the mirror won’t let me / I’m trying to be the person you expect / But I’m not ready, I’m not ready.”
Navarrette and Sombre fall in love over the course of the cinematic music video. At some point, he ends up in a full body cast, and of course she’s the only one who really sees him. The video was directed by Gus Black.
The new song, which he wrote and co-produced, and the accompanying video, are very vulnerable and raw. While the video shows an eventual love story, it seems to focus more on the singer’s view of himself, with several shots of him looking in the mirror. It’s a bit of a departure from his recent music videos “Potential” and “Homewrecker,” which lean more on the more zany side.
Sombr is scheduled to be the interview and musical guest on Thursday The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
