A 26-year-old businessman from Indore killed his 24-year-old girlfriend and then died by suicide inside a car in Madhya Pradesh’s Ashok Nagar district on Thursday, police said, adding that a note was recovered from the car in which the accused allegedly confessed to killing the woman after a fight. However, the man’s family alleged foul play, claiming that someone else had killed them.

Ashok Nagar Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mishra said, “On Wednesday, the woman and the man drove towards Imla in the latter’s car. When they did not return home till late night, the woman’s family registered a missing complaint. The police tracked them using location data on the mobile phone. They were found in a pool of blood inside the car parked near Shav Toll Plaza. On receiving information, the police reached the spot and searched it. The FSL team and senior officers also examined the spot.”
The police recovered from the car a homemade pistol, an axe, a can of sulfas (poison), a note, three mobile phones, a lighter and three hats. The back seat of the vehicle was found burned, and burn marks were visible on the man’s face. He added that the man shot himself with a gun, while the woman sustained serious injuries in multiple parts of the body, including her head.
Mishra added: “The memorandum narrates that the man killed the woman and then died by suicide. A special investigation team has been formed to investigate the case.” The police have not yet explained the reason for the crime mentioned in the warrant.
The man’s father filed a complaint, expressing doubts about the incident. “My son, who runs an auto accessories business in Indore, came to Ashok Nagar just 15 days ago. The woman was his good friend, but I am not aware of their relationship. Why did my son use four different things to kill the woman and himself? There was no serious problem between them. I don’t see any motive behind this extreme step. They were killed by someone else and it is being portrayed as a suicide,” the father said.
