Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley reunite; 'The Vampire Diaries' stars star in new thriller 'You Deserve to Know'

Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley may not be returning to Mystic Falls, but they are set to officially reunite, years after the hit teen drama “The Vampire Diaries” wrapped.The former co-stars who played on-screen love interests will now reunite in the upcoming thriller You Deserve To Know.

The film, a new adaptation of the novel of the same name, will see Dobrev play Gwen, while Wesley plays Scott.

The two portray neighbors who find themselves on opposite sides of a murder investigation, setting them on a collision course as the mystery unfolds.According to Deadline, the film focuses on three suburban couples who are not just next-door neighbors but also best friends. Their seemingly perfect lives are turned upside down when one of their husbands is murdered, revealing a web of long-buried secrets that threatens to tear apart their friendships.News of the reunion comes shortly after Paul shared with People magazine, “Nina and I have always thought about doing something together. So, maybe there’s a world where Nina and I can do something together. Daniel Gillies (played Elijah Mikaelson), who was on the show, him and I always talk about doing something.”At the time, the buzz around a potential reunion sparked excitement among fans who had long cherished their bond, both on-screen and off.

The reunion marks their first major project since they starred in The Vampire Diaries together. Dobrev and Wesley starred opposite each other during the first six seasons of the show as Elena Gilbert and Stefan Salvatore. The two played out romances until Dobrev’s character, Elena, falls in love with Stefan’s brother, Damon Salvatore, played by Ian Somerhalder.Wesley remained with the series throughout its eight seasons, while Dobrev returned for the series finale.Both Nina and Paul have been keeping busy with new projects. Dobrev recently starred in and produced the short film “General Admission” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. She will next appear in the action thriller “The Get Out” alongside Russell Crowe, Aaron Paul and Teresa Palmer. She is also set to star in and executive produce “It Happened One Summer,” based on the romance novel of the same name, and the erotic thriller series “Night Float.”Meanwhile, Wesley recently completed a recurring role opposite Christina Hendricks in the upcoming third season of The Buccaneers. He also completed work on the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, in which he portrays the iconic James T. Kirk.
