Paramount became the new home of linear television for Harry Potter and Fantastic beasts films after signing a multi-year licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery.

The deal comes as the Paramount and WBD merger nears the finish line, covers 11 films and will begin a marathon of eight Harry Potter Tent Poles adapts the series of novels by JK Rowling and three Fantastic beasts Spin-offs on MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite and Paramount Network, starting July 3.

As one of the most beloved and enduring franchises in entertainment, Harry Potter “Continuing to engage audiences across generations, this addition enables us to bring the magic and adventure of these timeless stories to fans of all ages,” Laurel Ware, president of programming and acquisitions for Paramount Media Networks, said in a statement.

Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros. for $111 billion aims to transform the studio into a theatrical and news giant amid competition in Hollywood from technology giants such as Netflix, Amazon and Apple. The licensing agreement comes on the film’s 25th anniversary Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stonewith director Chris Columbus’s film becoming the first installment in Warner Bros.’ A series of eight films that grossed over $7.7 billion at the global box office.

Other movies in the Paramount package include Liner TV Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire; Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix; Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 1; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part Two. The package also includes Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them; Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets.

A new HBO television series based on the Harry Potter series is scheduled for release in late December 2026.
