Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday sought action against MP Sanjay Dina Patel, who recently joined the ruling Shiv Sena party, over his alleged comment about “throwing bombs” at protesters, claiming this amounts to terrorism and criminal intent.

In a letter to Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, Raut also claimed that six MPs, who recently switched from Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena to Shiv Sena, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, have become the subject of public anger across the country.
There is massive anger among the people of Maharashtra against this divide, and people are staging protests at various places as they feel that voters have been grossly “betrayed”. The Rajya Sabha member said that protesting and holding elected representatives accountable are constitutional rights of citizens.
However, the “rebellious” MP from northeast Mumbai, Sanjay Patel, allegedly threatened the demonstrators with death.

Raut alleged that Patel said that if anyone protested against him, he would “throw bombs” at them, enter their homes and “kill” them.
The Sena (UBT) leader said that a member of Parliament threatening to use bombs is deeply concerning. If these bombs were manufactured or stored in his home, an immediate search of his premises should be conducted. Assistance should be sought from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) for this purpose. He added that if these bombs were obtained from any terrorist organization or criminal network, this would become a serious matter of national security.
Notably, after joining the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena party on Monday, Sanjay Patel told the media that when his father Dina Patel (former Congress MLA) was attacked, they killed five people, without providing details of the alleged incident.
He appeared to be responding to Raut’s call for “Operation Tudva” (crush) after six of the Sena’s nine Lok Sabha MPs (UBT) switched over to the rival Sena.

Raut alleged that Patel also stated not to mess with him and before protesting against him, people should take out a life insurance policy, adding that he would send them “either to the crematorium or to the hospital”. While issuing this threat, Patel spoke of the “killing” of five people, he claimed in his letter to the police.
Raut seeks to investigate
He said that an investigation should be conducted to find out who these five people were and when and why Sanjay Patil killed them. He added that since he had confessed himself, a murder case should be registered against him immediately.
Raut claimed that Patel’s statements constituted evidence of threats, terrorism and criminal intent. “Immediate action must be taken against him,” he said. “Otherwise, I will have to resort to legal action in the courts in the interest of public safety.”
“In such a case, he should be immediately arrested under the UAPA Act for his involvement in terrorist and anti-national activities,” he said in the letter.
Raut said there was widespread concern in the community due to the threats issued by MP Patel. “I would also like to specifically place on record that if any political worker is attacked or killed during this period, the full responsibility should lie with Sanjay Patel,” he added.
