FX and Hulu have set a September 8 premiere date The Drop: The Saga of Snowfalla spin-off centered around two characters from the original series, Wanda (Jill Penn) and Leon (Isaiah John). FX also released a new photo from the show (at the top of this story), showing Jon and Ben with fellow series regulars Asante Blackk and Peyton Alex Smith.
The dropwhich has been ordered by FX in November 2025, will follow Wanda and Leon as they look to reinvent themselves in 1990s Los Angeles, where the effects of the crack epidemic help fuel the rise of West Coast rap. The show starts then snow falling’The 2023 series finale, whose final scenes jump forward in time from the 1980s to 1990.
“Wanda begins the series driven by the clear belief that West Coast rap has the power to reshape American culture. She will assemble a group of geniuses and lead them to fulfill all their dreams,” a fairly detailed description of the show reads. “To do so, she must navigate the dangerous intersection of music and street politics, attract those closest to her including her cousins Lamar Kinsey (Black) and James Kinsey (Smith) and pursue volatile local rapper Artilleri (Simi “Buddy” Sims III), who is already in a tangle with law enforcement.
“Her training with former D-boy owner Darryl “DJ” Grant (Brandon Mikal Smith) creates opportunities but also deepens tensions between Wanda and Leon, who has vowed to leave the streets forever and pursue redemption through his pro bono legal practice. With ambition, loyalty and survival colliding, how much are everyone willing to risk in order to build something lasting in a world that threatens to tear them down?
