A group of Indian women stand up to a waiter using offensive insults in Italy, and the police intervene.
A heated controversy broke out at an Italian restaurant after an Indian woman and her friends confronted a waiter over anti-India remarks and demanded that he apologize. The incident was shared on Instagram by influencer Khushi Dubey, who posts under the name @khushicupcake5.In a video titled “This is what happened to us in Italy,” Dubey recorded a conversation with a waiter named Hussain, who made offensive comments about India and Indian customers. The clip begins with a discussion about the payment issue, although it remains unclear what sparked the dispute. During the confrontation, the bartender can be heard saying, “Fuck you, I’m going to call the police.”The women objected to his tone. One of them replied, “You know what? Mind your language. We’re women first and foremost, okay?”As the argument continued, Hussein turned his attention to the nationality of the group.
At one point, he said: “You carry your country poorly.” According to the video, one of Khushi’s friends replied, “We are from Bangladesh for this reason,” trying to challenge him sarcastically. The exchange quickly became more heated. The waiter was then heard saying: “You’re from fucking India.”Another woman responded: “Mr. Hussein, be respectful. You should know how to respect women.”The comments left the group upset. In the footage, Khushi can also be heard telling her friends in Hindi: “Yaar usko paise do aur chalo warna I will slap him.”
Despite the confrontation, the women continued to challenge the waiter over his discriminatory and anti-Indian remarks.Eventually, two Italian police officers arrived at the scene. In the presence of officers, the women said the bartender acknowledged his comments and offered a proper apology.Hussein seemed hesitant and tried to move on from the issue, but the group refused to let the matter end without an apology. One of the women told him: “No sir, please say, ‘I’m sorry for mistreating India.’”Khushi also urged him to apologize, saying, “Say, I’m sorry for mistreating India.”When the waiter tried to avoid the discussion, the women continued to pressure him for accountability. One added: “You should say so. I just said I would call the police.”After the incident, Dubey shared her thoughts online, saying that the incident showed how Indians are sometimes unfairly stereotyped or blamed while traveling abroad.“Every time it’s not the Indians who are at fault, sometimes it’s the people who discriminate against us. Always respect your country. Jai Hind,” Dubey wrote.
