Veteran director Sham Kaushal spoke about the joy of becoming a grandfather, saying that baby Vihaan has changed his life and the little one is the spitting image of his father, Vicky Kaushal.

In a chat with India Today, 70-year-old Sham Kaushal opened up about his relationship with his grandson Vihaan, who was born to Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif on November 7, 2025. The proud grandfather said the baby has brought a new kind of happiness into his life.He said: “He has changed my life. Whenever I am busy with work and cannot hug him physically, I make a video call with him and talk to him. He is very nice. I thank God as much as I can.”When asked whether Vihaan follows Vicky or Katrina, Sham had a clear answer. “I think he looks like Vicky,” he said.
Sham Kaushal calls himself blessed, and gives credit to his family
Sham Kaushal also spoke about how happy he is to have the family he has today. He said: “There are many parents in the world who are blessed by their children. I am one of them. I never imagined all this. I have two wonderful children, and my daughter-in-law is very nice. I thank God.”
Sham Kaushal has no plans to retire
Although his children urge him to slow down, Sham makes it clear that he has no intention of stopping.
“They keep asking me to stop working. But what will I do if I don’t work? I have been working since I was nine years old. What will I do after tea and breakfast?” He said with a laugh.He added that his relationship with work has changed over the years. He said: “Before, I worked with insecurity. I had to take care of my family and children. Now I am in a safe area. I don’t have to worry about money. I work with good people, and I enjoy it more.”

Earlier this year, Vicky and Katrina gave the paparazzi their first look at Vihaan during an outing at the Mumbai airport. While Katrina asked not to be photographed while she was carrying the baby, the couple allowed photographers to meet Vihaan, marking the baby’s first introduction to the media spotlight.
