A dust storm lashed Gurugram on Tuesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an orange alert for the Delhi-NCR region, forecasting rain and strong winds across the region.

Dust storms followed by thunderstorms with light rain, lightning and gusty winds of 50-80 km per hour are likely to occur across Delhi and several parts of the National Capital Region during the next two hours, the IMD said.
The MeT department also issued similar forecasts for parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, including Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Rewari, Palwal, Baghpat, Sikanderabad, Barsana, Alwar and Digh.
There were predictions that the dust storm conditions affecting parts of Gurugram and Delhi would spread to other areas of the National Capital Region (NCR) as well.

Orange Alert for Delhi-NCR
Several parts of the Delhi-National Capital region are witnessing dust storms accompanied by light rain, as variable weather conditions sweep the region.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has now issued a warning for north Delhi, predicting a moderate thunderstorm with lightning and wind speed of 60-80 km per hour.
It also issued a warning for south Delhi, southwest Delhi and New Delhi, expecting light rain accompanied by dust storms or severe thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds ranging between 80 and 100 kilometers per hour.
