A 26-year-old man from Pune died after slipping and falling into a gorge while clicking photos at Lohagad Fort in Maval tehsil in Pune, Maharashtra last week. What was initially thought to be an accidental death has now turned into a murder case.

The deceased, Ketan Vishal Agarwal, a resident of Jahhunji near Pune, was scheduled to marry in November this year. He was a manager in his family’s real estate company.
He went to Lohagad Fort with his fiancée and two close friends to celebrate his bride’s birthday, news agency PTI reported.

Police said on Friday, June 19, that Agarwal lost his balance near a cliff in strong winds. He slipped while taking photos around 10:30 a.m. and fell nearly 400 feet into the canyon.
Members of the Shivdurg Mitra Emergency Rescue Team and policemen conducted a three-hour rescue operation and recovered Agarwal’s body from the difficult terrain, Inspector Dinesh Taide of Lonavala Rural Police Station said.
At that time, the police registered a case of accidental death, opened an investigation into the incident, and sent the body of the 26-year-old man for an autopsy.
Development in the event of accidental death
Police on Tuesday revealed a major development in Agarwal’s death case, saying that his fiancée and her boyfriend pushed him into a deep ravine in Pune and presented the incident as an accidental fall.

Delhi shock: Wife’s murder was a suicide
Earlier this month, a 21-year-old man was arrested in Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj on charges of killing his 18-year-old wife by suffocating her with a pillow in their home. HT had previously reported that he killed his wife after an argument over suspicion that she was having an affair and then faked her death as a suicide.
A senior police officer said the man slept next to her body for nearly 12 hours after killing her in the early hours of Friday. He woke up around 1:30pm and was “terrified to see her dead”.
The officer added that he “tried to film the scene to make it appear that she died by suicide.”
The officer added: “A few minutes later, he took the body down and rushed out of the house, screaming that his wife had died by suicide. However, the woman’s sister, who lives in the same neighborhood, claimed that she had been murdered. The autopsy showed that she had been strangled and strangled to death.”
Although the man tried to mislead investigators, their investigation later revealed that he had gotten into an argument with his wife on Thursday night after returning home drunk. Based on allegations of physical assault and murder against the family of the deceased, a case was registered against the 21-year-old, and he was arrested.
