This increasing adoption reflects the growing confidence in the app to provide services at their fingertips.

Designed to improve ease of living, the new Aadhaar app allows people to avail various services including mobile number and address updates easily right from their smartphones.

So far, nearly 4 million people have updated their mobile numbers using the new Aadhaar app, the statement said. About 850,000 people used the app to update their addresses.

“The Aadhaar app is designed to provide Aadhaar number holders (ANH) with a convenient and private-first way to show, share and verify their identity,” the statement read.

The app has several pro-people features, including one-tap biometric lock/unlock, face verification to prove presence, authentication history, and an editable QR-based contact card to make it easier to share contacts instead of physical visiting cards.

It also allows downloading of e-Aadhaar and facilitates online appointment booking for visiting Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs) etc.

Aadhaar supports a wide range of real-world use cases. This includes checking into the hotel by scanning the entity’s QR code (OVSE) for offline verification. It facilitates hospital admissions, visitor management, event entries, and ID verification of temporary service workers and service partners among many such use cases.
