Vijay Deverakonda reflects on his theater days, says: 'I needed any opportunity to perform'

Before becoming one of the most popular stars of the Telugu industry, Vijay Deverakonda took time to learn how to act in theatre. Recently, the actor spoke about that stage of his life and revealed how his theatrical performances enhanced his skills and made him self-confident.

These days, Vijay Deverakonda is recognized for his unique screen presence and films. But he says that in the beginning, he was just focused on getting work opportunities and getting better. According to him, theater became the foundation that helped him grow both personally and professionally.

Vijay Deverakonda reveals the importance of every opportunity

Speaking about his mindset during those early years, Vijay Deverakonda said, “It was never about choosing what I liked or wanted.

It was more about giving me any chance to do anything. He explained that he was keen to learn and did not want to wait for the perfect roles. He added: “I needed any platform, any work that could help me improve my craft and also allow people to see my talent.” Vijay Deverakonda revealed that every opportunity, no matter how small, was valuable as it allowed him to gain experience and understand the art of acting better.

Theater helped VD discover his passion

The actor also noted that he has been part of theatrical productions, including adaptations of famous plays. According to Vijay Deverakonda, theater offered much more than just acting experience. “It helped me direct my energy in the right direction,” he said. He believes that theater taught him discipline, patience and the ability to perform under pressure. Theater is different from movies because actors in theaters have to perform in front of an audience without reshoots, and this makes every performance a learning process for them.

Vijay Deverakonda said that those years helped him understand what he really wanted to do with his life and gave him the confidence to pursue acting seriously.

Vijay Deverakonda calls theater the place that liberates the actor

Even today, Vijay Deverakonda speaks highly about the value of theater for aspiring performers. “Theater liberates you in a way,” he said. “It frees you.” The actor believes that theatrical performances help actors become more expressive and courageous. Looking back, he feels those experiences prepared him for the challenges of cinema and helped shape the performing public he sees today. On the work front, Vijay Deverakonda has several exciting projects, including ‘Ranabaali’, ‘Rowdy Janardhana’ and his film with director Shoryuv.

As he continues to move forward in his career, he remains grateful for the lessons he learned from theater early in his journey.
