Who is Muhammad Safa? Former UN delegate who resigned over Iran's nuclear weapons claim, now accuses Elon Musk of promoting anti-Muslim hatred in the UK

Mohamed Safa, a Lebanese diplomat and former UN representative, accused Elon Musk of promoting hatred against Muslims in the United Kingdom, and claimed that such hostility in the country is funded by Zionists. In a post on X, Safa wrote: “Hatred against Muslims in the UK is funded by Zionists and promoted by Elon Musk.”

Musk has repeatedly commented on issues including UK grooming gang scandals and immigration policies. The billionaire also publicly supported Tommy Robinson and criticized British authorities over their handling of gang cases.Green Party leader Zach Polanski also blamed Elon Musk and anti-Muslim rhetoric from politicians for creating the conditions that led to attacks in Edinburgh in which five Muslim men were injured.“Let’s be very clear that the vile anti-Muslim hatred of politicians and their fellow billionaire @elonmusk creates the conditions for this kind of vile attack,” Polanski wrote on X.

He also expressed his solidarity with Muslims affected by the incident, writing: “Sending huge solidarity to the Muslim community in Edinburgh and beyond.”

Who is Muhammad Safa?

Safaa was born on March 8, 1991 in Borj Rahal, Lebanon. He is best known for his work with the National Vision Association (PVA), an organization that has participated in UN forums through consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

According to his LinkedIn profile, Safa has served as the organization’s representative to the United Nations since 2016, representing PVA at the UN offices in Geneva, New York and Vienna.His profile also indicates that he has served as the organization’s CEO since 2015, overseeing its programmes, operations and international activities. Prior to that, he served as chief administrative officer, managing day-to-day operations and organizational planning.Safa made headlines in March 2026 when he announced his resignation from his position at the United Nations. At the time, he claimed to have become aware of a planned nuclear strike on Iran and accused senior UN figures of serving the interests of powerful lobbyists rather than the organization’s mission. No public evidence has been provided to support this claim.He frequently comments on Middle East politics, international affairs and human rights issues on social media.
