Aside from the music, the opening credits sequence, which depicts the history of House Targaryen through an animated tapestry, now ends differently. Instead of ending with an image of the Iron Throne, the tapestry now ends with a Targaryen-style dragon crest featuring a black dragon on a red background. The symbol does not represent the traditional Targaryen banner, which features a red dragon on a black field. Instead, the black dragon in red is associated with House Blackfyre, a cadet branch of House Targaryen that appears decades after the events currently depicted in “House of the Dragon.”
Viewers noted that the fabric also appeared to be torn, representing the decline of the Targaryen family, its lineage, and its dragons.New episodes of House of the Dragon Season 3 will air every Monday until the season finale on August 9.
