The Center has reappointed Solicitor General Tushar Mehta for another three-year term along with a group of law officers serving as Additional Solicitors General (ASG) in the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court, according to a government order.

In an order issued by the Appointments Committee (ACC) Secretariat on Saturday, Mehta’s term, which was scheduled to end on June 30, has been extended for another period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The ACC, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also extended the tenure of Assistant Secretary Generals Vikramjit Banerjee, KM Nataraj, SV Raju, N Venkataraman and Aishwarya Bhatti – who represent the Center in the Supreme Court – for another period of three years. While the tenure of Assistant General Secretary Banerjee and Nataraj will come into effect from July 1, the reappointment period of the other three Assistant Secretary Generals will begin from June 30, the order said.
The tenure of ASG Chetan Sharma of the Delhi High Court has been extended by the same order for another six months with effect from July 1.
A team of 14 lieutenants is representing the Center in the Supreme Court, along with Attorney General R Venkataramani and General Secretary Mehta. Among them, ASG SD Sanjay took charge as the new Solicitor General of Bihar from June 18. His departure reduced the numerical strength of the Abu Sayyaf group in the Supreme Court to 13.
Other associates of the Supreme Court include S Dwarkanath, Archana Pathak Dev, Brijender Chahar, Rajkumar Bhaskar Thakare, Raghavendra P Shankar, Davinder Pal Singh, K Ravindra Kumar and Anil Kaushik. Since their appointment in September 2024, their three-year term of service will end on September 9, 2027.
