Faizon Love, the popular comedian best known for his role in the movie “Elf,” has been released from prison. After being arrested on two counts of contempt of court in Hillsborough County, Florida, the 58-year-old was booked in Tampa.

During his appearance in court, the actor admitted to suffering from homelessness and poverty. Here’s a closer look at Faizon Love’s arrest and release.

Faizon Love is unpaid Child support His dues to his former partner

Faizon Love was initially detained in California, where he served a 16-day jail sentence before being transferred to Florida, according to Complex. The “Money Talks” actor was arrested after his ex, Tiffany Lee, revealed $250,000 in unpaid child support on June 11 during a paternity announcement.

When Love was mentioned, he did not comply with the court-ordered payments, and Lee reportedly recalled him claiming that she “would never get a dime.

Additionally, it highlighted his intentions to never work again to avoid the aforementioned payments.

Faizon Love relies on royalty checks

As for Love, he said Lee and her attorney are portraying him as the complete villain in the situation, according to Fox 13. He explained that his income was too low to continue receiving $2,500 a month in child support.

Facing homelessness and poverty, the “Couples Retreat” actor reportedly relies on annual “Elf” royalty checks of about $10,000 to survive each year. “He was homeless. He was living in his car,” Love’s lawyer said during the hearing, before adding: “This is how the powerful fell.

According to TMZ, Love’s highest gross annual income in the past five years was $13,000, and his total income in 2025 was $0. Meanwhile, the judge set July 1, 2026, as the date for Faizon Love to disclose his financial statements to determine his ability to pay child support.
