“Vivek Agarwal is the first Indian to be elected as Vice-Chairman of FATF. What the Narendramadi government should do is put Pakistan back in the gray list,” the Hyderabad MP said in a post on ‘X’.

Owaisi believed that the American list of the TRF (Resistance Force) “does not have any real benefit.”

“The inclusion of TRF in the UN is essential. The Modi government should and should have tried to include ISI as well. We must remember the November 2025 Red Fort suicide bombing,” the AIMIM leader further said.

Earlier, the US designated the TRF’s Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which claimed responsibility for the Pahalgham terror attack, as a global terrorist organisation.

India on Friday bagged the position of Vice-Chair of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the global body that sets standards to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, for the first time.

The country has been a member of the influential international body since 2010.

Union Culture Minister Vivek Agarwal was appointed as Vice-Chairman of the body at the conclusion of the general meeting held at the body’s headquarters in Paris.

Countries that fail to address strategic deficiencies in their systems to combat money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing, and are subject to increased monitoring, are placed on the FATF Gray List.
