Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has received a special civic honor from the Los Angeles City Council, which officially declared January 6, 2027, as “Diljit Dosanjh Day”. The resolution celebrates his contribution in taking Punjabi music global and introducing South Asian culture into mainstream American entertainment.

Diljit Dosanjh took to Instagram to share a video from the special occasion, where he can be seen receiving the honour. The singer shared the clip and wrote: “Diljit Dosanjh Day in Los Angeles,” adding: “The Los Angeles City Council has officially adopted a civil resolution declaring January 6, 2027, Diljit Dosanjh Day.”“The resolution, introduced by Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, honors the Indian-born singer, actor and producer for his significant contributions to the globalization of Punjabi music and the promotion of South Asian representation in mainstream American culture,” he wrote in the same post.The video showed Diljit receiving a framed resolution from a woman during a private gathering. Dressed in a white kurta and pink salwar with his signature turban, the singer looked visibly emotional and folded his hands in gratitude as he accepted the honour. This recognition was presented by Los Angeles Council Member Monica Rodriguez and represents another milestone in Delgit’s growing global journey.
