Zack noticed her suffering and hoped Spencer could help her.After arriving at the property, Spencer and his father spent two days cleaning up the overgrown yard and removing debris while learning more about the challenges Debbie has faced in recent years.Debbie has suffered a series of personal and financial difficulties in recent years. She served as her husband’s primary caregiver during his battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, a responsibility that took a significant emotional and financial toll.
After his death, Debbie continued to face increasing challenges, including missing rent for three months and having to postpone necessary medical and dental treatments due to financial constraints.The difficulties she faced were exacerbated when she was deceived by a contractor. Debbie paid a $2,000 deposit for tree removal work on the property, but the contractor never returned to complete the job, Spencer said.
Her car was wrecked by her neighbor and she never paid for it.Besides restoring Debbie’s overgrown yard, Spencer took additional steps to help her financially. He and his father purchased all the items at her yard sale, provided them with immediate cash, and later donated the goods to Habitat for Humanity. Through his non-profit initiative, SB Mow It Forward, Spencer also covered three months of Debbie’s back rent, which helped alleviate some of the financial stress she was facing.Spencer launched a GoFundMe campaign and shared her story with his online fans. The response was immediate and overwhelming, with donors contributing more than $625,000 during the first three days of fundraising. Contributions continued to increase, turning the campaign into a major crowdfunding effort supported by thousands of people.The money will be placed in a trust to ensure Debbie’s long-term needs are met.
This money is intended to help cover basic living expenses, medical and dental care, and to support her eventual move into a senior living community if she chooses to make the move.Spencer later surprised Debbie with news of the fundraiser’s success, informing her that millions of people had watched the video of her situation. Overwhelmed with emotion, Debbie said she had no idea the fundraiser was being launched on her behalf and thanked Spencer.The fundraiser is the latest in a series of charitable efforts Spencer is undertaking through his lawn care content platform. In 2024, he helped raise more than $242,000 for an animal rescue organization that cared for a cat he discovered while working. Earlier in 2025, another campaign linked to his work generated more than $850,000 to support an elderly woman in need of financial assistance and accessibility care.
