According to police, preliminary findings indicate that some of the men consumed alcohol together before returning to the village, after which the dispute broke out again, leading to violence using sticks, bricks and stones.

The family claimed that the incident was linked to an old personal feud. Rajendra claimed that he had left for Rajasthan about 15 years ago with his neighbor Manohar’s wife, allegedly, and that tensions between the two families continued after they both returned and lived separately.

Rajendra further claimed that he was attacked on the roof of his house and his mother was injured when she intervened.

Based on a complaint filed by Ravi Rawat, Rajendra’s brother, the police registered a case of murder and voluntarily causing hurt against Dharmendra and Govind, sons of Manohar, his wife Basanti and brother Pancham.

Dharmendra, Govind and Pancham have been arrested, while Dharmendra is undergoing treatment under police surveillance, police said. Security measures have been tightened in the village and an investigation is underway.
