The first group of declared candidates seeking election to the Board of Directors of the Writers Guild of America West includes former directors of Big mouth and black list And also screenwriter of the year Send help.
Writer Andrew Goldberg (Big mouth, Mating season), John Eisendrath (Blacklist, alias(And Mark Swift)Send help, Baywatch) are among the initial 14 nominees announced by the WGA West on Thursday. Other writers in the running for eight open seats include Nikita Hamilton, Aaron Weiner, Silpa Kovali, Jeffrey Thompson, Morgan Dameron, and Mark Amato.
Current candidates Chris Hazzard, Katherine Humphries, Danny Tully, Raphael Bob-Waksberg and Melinda Hsu will also run again.
All 14 members have been nominated by the union council’s nominating committee to run in 2026, although they may have some company soon. Union members can also run by submitting a petition as long as they receive at least 15 signatures from other members supporting their candidacy by July 23.
Union members will receive voting materials starting August 26 and will have until September 15 to vote online or by mail.
Candidates elected to the board in 2026 will join a leadership body headed by union President Michel Mulroney, Vice President Travis Donnelly and Treasurer Peter Morita, none of whom are running for re-election this year.
The election cycle begins a little less than two months after the WGA ratified its latest collective bargaining agreement with studios and streaming companies by a margin of more than 90 percent. The four-year deal guaranteed the union’s health plan, with modifications, raised most wages by 10.5 percent over the course of the contract and made some increases to residuals and a success bonus flowing to the union.
