NDA-backed Rajya Sabha candidate Parimal Nathwani on Wednesday expressed happiness over his victory and thanked the people of Jharkhand. He defeated Congress candidate Pranav Jha.

Talking to the media, he said that he was grateful to the people of Jharkhand especially the MLAs for their support. He thanked the BJP for giving him the opportunity to file his nomination and for helping him during the electoral process. Nathwani also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP leaders, workers and volunteers who supported and voted for him.

“I thank all the people of Jharkhand. Especially our MLAs, and the BJP for giving me the opportunity to file my nomination, and for helping me in the elections. I am grateful to our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and all BJP people here,” Nathwani said.
“I am grateful to all the workers, volunteers and people who voted for me in the BJP, and I will continue to work in Jharkhand. Of the 30 votes I got, 28 were valid and 2 votes were rejected on technical grounds,” he added.
Regarding his victory, Aditya Sahu, president of the BJP in Jharkhand, said that the result reflects that the people of Jharkhand rejected the Congress party and accepted the ideology of the BJP.
“Today, the people of Jharkhand and the respected local associations of Jharkhand have rejected the Congress party and accepted the ideology of the BJP,” he said.

He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s work speaks for itself.
“If anyone can do good for this country and country, it is Narendra Modi. His work is visible and speaks volumes,” Sahu added.
BJP MLA Neera Yadav also congratulated the MLAs for their cooperation.
“We are extremely grateful to the MLAs who cooperated and thank them from the bottom of our hearts for their thoughtful vote,” she said.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rajesh Thakur described the win as “tragic” and a “shameful incident of democracy”.
“We believe there is nothing more tragic than this. What happened is a shameful incident for democracy. You can see how MPs are being bought, whether in Maharashtra, West Bengal or across the country, at exorbitant prices.” $15 Crores each. This incident happened here as well. “We will look into it,” he said.
