Speaking to reporters, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee said the PSS’s dismissal reflects the Prime Minister’s “vindictive attitude” towards the former minister.

Banerjee said Mamata refused to accept the new PSO assigned to her because she had more confidence in the officer who had been with her for more than two decades.

“It is very unfortunate that Mamata Banerjee’s PSO, who was with her for 20 years, has been removed. I have been told that new PSOs have been appointed, but she is not accepting them. This is purely authoritarian. The PSO is a matter of trust; if I do not have confidence in the PSO, I may say so. This is a very vindictive attitude on the part of the Prime Minister. Everything is happening because of the PM’s vindictiveness,” he said. Banerjee said.

On Thursday night, TMC MP Derek O’Brien posted a video from outside Mamata’s house, claiming that there is no security outside her house and that her PSO has been removed. He posted on

In a post on X, the TMC claimed that “removing long-serving security personnel protecting @MamataOfficial is not an administrative action; it is a calculated move to isolate and expose her to danger.”

The party also said that some security personnel have been with Banerjee since she took over as Railway Minister.

In a swipe at Prime Minister Suvendu Adhikari, the TMC claimed: “Shocking new low in political vendetta. What exactly are you up to, @SuvenduWB? Your obsession with vendetta politics and abuse of power out of insecurity reveal exactly who you are. If petty politics had a face, it would undoubtedly look like yours.”

Reacting to the sacking of former chief minister Mamata Banerjee, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Asim Sarkar said Banerjee will get the security due to the former chief minister, according to ANI.

This comes at a time when rebellion is growing within the TMC with a total of 58 TMC MLAs already forming a separate faction within the Bengal Assembly, with Ritabrata Banerjee being recognized as LoP by Speaker Rathindra Bose.

Meanwhile, in the Lok Sabha, two-thirds of the party’s MPs, led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, have merged with the Tripura-based National Citizens Party of India (NCPI). They have also written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking a separate seating arrangement in the House.
