Kangana Ranaut-starrer Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata saw a huge drop in earnings on its first Monday at the Indian box office. The film, which released on Friday, has been struggling to keep its collections above the Rs 1 crore mark at the box office during its first weekend.
‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ collections for the fourth day
On Monday, the film saw its collections fall below the Rs 1 crore mark. According to sacnilk’s early estimates, the film collected a net collection of Rs 65 lakh on the fourth day across 1,866 shows. This figure represents a huge 63.9 per cent drop in collections compared to Sunday’s profit of Rs 1.80 lakh crore. While all films are seeing a decline in collections on the first Monday, the film may find it difficult to pick up the pace, after falling below Rs 1 crore. With the latest figures, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata has earned an estimated Hindi gross collection of Rs 5.86 crore and an India net collection of Rs 4.90 crore after four days in theatres.
“Bharat Bhagya Vidhatta” vs. “Main Vapas Unja”
The film’s struggles become even more apparent when compared to its competitors. Imtiaz Ali who directed ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ earned a net collection of Rs 1.25 crore on the fourth day from 2,139 shows. Although the film also witnessed a decline on weekdays, its decline was comparatively less than 50 per cent from the Rs 2.50 crore mark on Sunday.
The film’s total collections now stand at Rs 8.10 crore gross and Rs 6.75 crore nett, comfortably ahead of ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’.
“Bharat Bhagya Vidhatta” vs “Haunted 3D”
However, the clear winner of the weekend is still “Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past.” The horror-thriller grossed Rs 2.20 crore on Monday, registering a 38.9 per cent decline from its Sunday collection of Rs 3.60 crore.Despite the decline, the horror film’s Monday success was much stronger than both competing releases.
The road ahead
The coming week days are said to be crucial for ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’. If the collections continue to remain below the Rs 1 crore mark, the film may find it difficult to improve its overall box office collections significantly. The film, set against the backdrop of the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, had generated interest before its release and received support from political leaders, with some states being given tax breaks.
However, this support has yet to translate into strong box office returns.Disclaimer: Box office numbers and data in this article are compiled from public and industry sources.
