French President Emmanuel Macron gave Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to France a Bollywood touch by sharing a video set to the popular song “Aari Aari” from Dhurandar, attracting widespread attention on social media ahead of the G7 summit. The clip highlighted Modi’s most prominent engagements in Nice and his interactions with Macron.
A Bollywood touch to diplomatic messages
The 30-second video on X and Instagram opened with Macron and Modi greeting each other with handshakes and hugs before showing key moments from the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to Nice. The montage highlighted discussions on technology, innovation and strengthening the partnership between India and France, while a Bollywood soundtrack gave the diplomatic message a distinctly Indian flavour.
The video was a cinematic thank you note from Macron after Modi participated in the Bharat Innovates 2026 conclave and the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit in France. Responding to the post, Modi thanked the French President and reiterated that India and France will continue to work closely in areas such as technology, innovation and emerging industries.
The latest post is not the first time Macron has turned to Indian popular culture in his social media outreach. Earlier this year, he shared a farewell video from his visit to India featuring music associated with Durandar.
Selfies, summits and strategic talks
Adding to the buzz on social media, Macron also shared a selfie with Modi on the sidelines of the G7 summit, captioning it with one word – “Nice!”. The post appeared to be a playful reference to the French Riviera city and the warm relationship between the two leaders.
Earlier in the day, Modi and Macron jointly inaugurated the Bharat Innovates 2026 event in Nice, a platform that brings together startups, investors and technology leaders from India, France and other countries. Before the event, the two leaders greeted each other with hugs and handshakes before beginning their engagement.
The leaders later held bilateral talks and reviewed the progress of the India-France Special Global Strategic Partnership. Discussions focused on defense cooperation, space cooperation, nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, innovation and emerging technologies. They also explored opportunities in advanced technology partnerships, defense manufacturing, human spaceflight, and small modular reactors.
