Viral Re-NEET image raises questions, NTA rejects leak claim

A photo of what appears to be a stamped question booklet for the National Eligibility Test (NEET) is once again circulating on social media. This time, the details are printed on the booklet itself. One user

The National Testing Agency (NTA) rejected the claim, calling the image “all fake” and saying it had been reported to cybercrime authorities. But the response did little to stop a new round of online speculation.

Leak rumors surfaced the day before

On June 13, the fact-checking unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) flagged a purported question paper on NEET retakes circulating on social media and termed the claim fake.According to PIB Fact Check, reports that the NEET paper was leaked again were false. The agency advised students and parents not to trust unverified documents, screenshots, photos or messages circulating on social media platforms.

She also reiterated that all genuine information related to NEET is disseminated only through official channels, including the official website of NTA.The advisory urged aspirants to verify claims before sharing them, warning that false information could create unnecessary confusion and panic among candidates.

The students remain unconvinced

Despite the NTA’s recent response, many users questioned whether simply labeling the image as fake was enough to address concerns. One user responded: “Just saying it’s fake doesn’t build our trust… You have to prove it’s fake.”The same user pointed out the details in the photo, adding: “See the details, the extra time, the extra pages, this is not fake at all.”Another user wrote: “Just saying it’s fake doesn’t make it fake… Last time it was the same scenario… Students were talking about the leak and they were just saying it’s fake.”These comments reflect a continuing lack of trust surrounding high-stakes exams, especially after controversies over exam integrity have dominated public debate in recent years.

Why did the photo attract attention?

The viral post focused on two specific details that users claimed were visible in the brochure. The first was to mention the 33-page question booklet. The second test was three hours and 15 minutes long, with references to additional rough work pages. These details became the basis for online speculation that the document could be linked to the upcoming re-examination.However, neither NTA nor PIB Fact Check indicated that the image represented an authentic check sheet.

Both authorities confirmed that the leak allegations circulating online are false.

What students should rely on

Currently, the government’s position remains unchanged.PIB Fact Check said re-NEET’s alleged paper leak claims are fake, while NTA described the latest viral image as “all fake” and said it had been reported to cybercrime authorities. This may determine the official position. Whether it will resolve students’ concerns is another matter. As the re-examination date approaches, thousands of candidates will likely continue to scan every photo, screenshot and message that spreads on the Internet. The challenge for authorities is not just to identify misinformation, but to convince worried students that it is misinformation.
