The accident reportedly occurred at midnight on Saturday amidst a large crowd of examinees and their accompanying crowds, disrupting train movement and causing damage to property. The accident came after the students felt very agitated because they were unable to board the train due to the limited number of trains allocated for the examinees.

According to officials, security personnel were forced to resort to moderate force after repeated attempts to create disturbances and obstruct railway operations.

The official added that some “anti-social elements” repeatedly pulled the emergency chain and raised various demands, such as requesting special trains after the train carrying students for the Bihar Police exam arrived late in the ban.

Speaking to ANI, Patna District Magistrate (DM) Thiyagarajan said, “Around midnight, we received information that some people were creating disturbances. We repeatedly asked them not to cause any ruckus and cooperate with the examinees who wanted to conduct the exam. However, some anti-social elements repeatedly pulled the emergency chain and raised various demands, like asking for special trains, despite two special trains being already available… They also obstructed students who wanted to go. Because of these issues, we the situation was completely normal.” Now, the trains designated for those undergoing testing have departed.

Speaking to ANI, an eyewitness, Sanjay Kumar Sharma, who runs a shop in the vicinity, described the situation as chaotic and said his shop was vandalized during the incident.

“At first, people blocked the trains and did not allow them to move. The management arrived to remove the blockade, but the crowd did not budge. In the midst of this, there was a huge commotion and a violent explosion. You can see the consequences here in front of my shop. The entire shop was smashed, and large stones were thrown inside. I barely managed to escape alive. Otherwise, no one knows what could have happened to me. There are too few trains and too many students…”

Police said the situation has since been under control, and train traffic has returned to normal.

Further investigation is still ongoing.
