'I have a great desire to make a film with Lalettan': 'Balan' director Chidambaram talks about Mohanlal collaboration reports

Director Chidambaram has finally addressed reports linking him to a potential project starring Mohanlal. The rumors rose after a social media post shared by Chidambaram’s father, director Satish Pothuval, leading many fans to believe that a project featuring Mohanlal was already in the works.

However, Chidambaram has now clarified that no such project is currently in development.

Chidambaram in Mohanlal Project

Speaking in an interview with MediaOne, Chidambaram said that he was not aware of how the rumors started. While he admitted that he would like to work with Mohanlal in the future, he confirmed that there have been no formal discussions regarding the film.He said, “I don’t know how the rumors about me making a film with Lalettan started.

Someone must have said something somewhere and it spread. I have a great desire to make a film with Lalitan. If I have the opportunity, I will definitely do it. But there have been no discussions regarding such a project.”

The ‘Balan’ director reveals that he never spoke to Mohanlal

Although the Manjummel Boys director has met the veteran actor on multiple occasions, the director said they never had any conversation.“I spoke to Mamuka but I did not speak to Lalitan,” he said.

When asked what kind of films he would like to make with Mohanlal and Mammootty Chidambaram he explained that story will always be his primary focus.“Lalettan and Mammookka are two actors who can adapt to anything. Whatever character you give them, they can become that character. I think when we cast them in a story, we should feature the actors in it rather than the stars. That’s how I would like to collaborate with a star,” he said. The director stressed that both actors possess remarkable versatility and can fit into a wide range of narratives. According to him, the focus should be on their acting abilities rather than relying solely on their star image.

Chidambaram shares his dream projects

While discussing Mohanlal, Chidambaram acknowledged the expectations that come with directing one of the biggest stars of Malayalam cinema.“If you bring Lalettan into a film, there is bound to be a huge impact,” he said.

He should twirl his mustache. If Lalitan exists, shouldn’t we at least give that much? His fans expect it. Laletan’s films are celebrations.”“If Mamuka joins, I would like to do a revenge thriller,” he added.Chidambaram concluded by praising the two stars and described this phase of their career as one of the best phases of their careers. Meanwhile, Chidambaram’s next film is Balan, which will release on June 19.
