AP Dhillon’s house in Canada was attacked in 2024 by Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang.
Abjit Singh Kingra, an Indian national convicted of carrying out an extortion attack at the Victoria home of Punjabi singer AB Dhillon, told Canadian Immigration that he would be killed if returned to India.
In his testimony, Kingra said that when he carried out the attack, he did not understand that he was working for the Bishnoi gang.
Kingra said: “I received news that this gang was threatening my family in India, and they said that if I returned, they would kill me,” stressing that he was not a member of the Bishnoi gang.“Since I am not a member of their gang, they think I am helping the police here because I was the first to be arrested,” Kingra said.Kingra’s discovery came during a hearing aimed at determining whether he should be extradited to India for organized crime. The 26-year-old was sentenced to six years in prison for arson and firearms offenses last fall for his role in the incident that saw Kingra and his co-defendants set fire to their cars and fire 14 shots from a handgun into the front of Dillon’s home.“I was surprised, I was on every news channel.”Kingra said he was surprised when he saw the video he shot shown on all news channels.
“I was even surprised that he was everywhere on the news channel in the morning,” he said. “If I had known earlier that the Bishnoi gang was involved in the matter and it was this serious – blackmail and all that – I would have done it.” [refused] At that point.”“My family was already threatened, and now it will be 100 percent for them, because it will be reported in the media,” Kingra said.“And if I go to India – of course – they will kill me.”Kingra said he came to Canada in 2018 on a student visa. While doing various odd jobs, he met Vikram Sharma, one of the accused in AP Dhillon’s house arson case. Kingra said Sharma offered him $4,000 to join him in the attack and told him that AP Dhillon’s house would be empty. But that was not the case. Although Dillon was not home and his roommate was almost injured, Kingra said Sharma gave him the money in cash and never told him who they did it for.
