Are you looking for home help? Dubai Police issues a warning regarding the recruitment of maids; Encourages the use of licensed agencies

Dubai Police issues an alert regarding hiring maids

Dubai Police has urged residents to hire temporary domestic workers and hourly employees only through licensed and accredited agencies, warning that dealing with unverified individuals may put families at risk.As part of the ongoing public awareness campaign, the authorities stressed the importance of verifying the identity of the worker before allowing him to enter or start working inside the home. Residents have also been advised to ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed access to their properties.

Keep valuables safe and out of sight

Police advised homeowners to store cash, jewelry, important documents and other valuables in safe places and avoid leaving them in visible areas while the temporary workers are present.Taking such precautions can significantly reduce the risk of personal property theft, loss or misuse, officials said.

Children and the elderly should not be left unattended

Dubai Police also called on families to closely monitor children and elderly relatives and avoid leaving them alone with unknown or trusted people. The force said protecting vulnerable family members remained a critical aspect of overall home security.

Report suspicious behavior immediately

Residents have been urged to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious behavior or unusual behavior by temporary domestic workers or hourly employees.

The authorities reiterated that home security is a shared responsibility and that awareness and caution play a vital role in preventing crime and protecting property.

Warning follows employment fraud cases

The latest advice comes months after Dubai Police warned residents about fake employment agencies operating through social media platforms. In January, a woman reportedly lost 10,000 dirhams after falling victim to a fraudulent recruitment scheme. Authorities said scammers often lure victims with attractive offers before cutting off communications and disappearing with the money. He advised residents to avoid dealing with unverified recruitment agencies or social media accounts claiming to provide domestic workers and to use only legal recruitment channels.

The UAE takes strict measures against illegal recruitment agencies

This warning also comes amid intense efforts by the UAE authorities to curb illegal recruitment activities.Earlier this year, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced the closure of 12 agencies for recruiting unlicensed domestic workers, and referred cases related to them to the Public Prosecution.

The Ministry also monitored hundreds of violations that included licensed recruitment offices throughout the country.Officials said there are strict monitoring and inspection systems in place to identify violations and address them transparently and firmly.Dubai Police urged community members to report suspicious activities through the “Police Eye” service of the Dubai Police smart application or by calling 901 for non-emergency assistance.
