Sejal Pawar has been sent on forced leave for 15 days after Mumbai’s KEM Hospital launched a probe against her over remarks she made on comedian Praneet More’s show about “male bodies”. Pawar is a medical student at KEM Hospital.

While the forced leave is an interim decision, a larger five-member committee has been formed to take the final decision within a week, HT has learnt.
Earlier, on Friday, a fact-finding committee constituted by Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital in Parel found some of the statements made by Pawar, a final year MBBS student, to be “objectionable and insensitive”.
The institute said in a statement issued on Friday that the comments fell short of the dignity, compassion and professional responsibility expected of a medical student.
The administration has asked Pawar’s parents/guardians to appear before the institute on Saturday to attend her for counselling.
The show in question was recorded about three months ago, and videos circulating online show Pawar recounting anecdotes from anatomy training and talking about male cadavers, while another audience member, Himanshu Jangra, claimed that spending on a date entitles men to physical intimacy.

Maharashtra cyber police detained Pawar, Jangra and more over these remarks, while the National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned More and Jangra for glorifying and applauding non-consensual behavior towards women and sexual coercion.
Pawar has already offered an unconditional apology for her comments. The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) at KEM Hospital on Thursday said the online campaign against her had turned into “targeted harassment” and “defamation of a person”, while admitting that her comments were inappropriate and did not reflect the values expected of medical professionals.
