14-year-old boy among 3 teenagers arrested after 21-year-old man murdered in Essex

A 14-year-old boy is among three teenagers arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a 21-year-old man in a park in Chelmsford, Essex.Emergency services were called to Central Park at around 7pm on Friday after reports of a serious accident.

Officers arrived to find the victim seriously injured.Despite the efforts of paramedics, the 21-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrest 3

Essex Police said an immediate investigation led officers to an address in Auckland Close, Chelmsford, where three suspects were arrested shortly afterwards.The suspects, aged 14, 17 and 18, remain in custody for questioning.The victim’s family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers.

Investigators are appealing for information

Senior investigating officer and Inspector Lydia George described the incident as “extremely sad” and said investigators were focused on establishing the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.“A grieving family and our thoughts remain with them at this very difficult time,” she said.Police confirmed they were not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, and said there was no ongoing danger to the public.

Community reassurance patrols

Investigators continue to request witnesses and information from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident.“This occurred in a busy public area, and while we have already received valuable assistance from the public, we continue to appeal for information,” DeGeorge said.“Even the smallest details can be crucial.”Officers will remain in the Chelmsford area in the coming days to provide reassurance and support to the local community as the investigation continues.
